Mint Julep

The Mint Julep is a bourbon cocktail best known for being the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby. But this easy-to-make refresher shouldn’t be reserved for only one day a year. This classic cocktail was created in the southern United States during the 18th century and is still a favorite today.

The Mint Julep is traditionally served in a Highball glass or silver Julep cup over crushed ice and garnished with mint. Since bourbon is the only liquid in the drink, you’ll want to use a high-quality bourbon you know you love.

INGREDIENTS IN THE MINT JULEP COCKTAIL

  • 7.5 ml Simple syrup
  • 8 Mint leaves
  • 60 ml Bourbon

Garnish:  Bitters - Mint sprig

HOW TO MAKE THE MINT JULEP COCKTAIL

  • In a Julep cup or rocks glass, lightly muddle the mint and syrup.
  • Add the bourbon and pack tightly with crushed ice.
  • Stir until the cup is frosted on the outside.
  • Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome and garnish with a mint sprig and few optional drops of bitters.
