A big travel agency worker said that the flow of Chinese, even young people, traveling to Greece is continually on the rise, the last five years.
So far this year, the number of tourists in Greece has increased by 8.3% compared to last year and 66% compared to 2016," The travel agent said that over the past five years, 36% of tourist packages to Greece, purchased by people under the age of 30.
As he explained, the increase in flights between the two countries was one of the decisive reasons for the increase.
Young Chinese couples are choosing Greece as their destination for their weddings, in Santorini and other Aegean islands.
This was stated by Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis, speaking on Skai TV, referring to the Chinese market.
He clarified the importance of the second connection from Shanghai to Athens with direct flights - a deal made a few days ago - while we will be increasing the frequency of the first connection from Beijing to Athens.
“I had very good meetings in Riga with my Chinese counterpart. The next period, we will implement a strategic plan for the approach of the Chinese market in order to increase the number of tourists.
